One of the aspects that many people focus on when choosing items for a new baby is the cot. And with good reason. Your child will be spending a lot of time in the cot so it is important that you get the right one, one that is the right size for it and one that is comfortable.

- Comfort. Of course this can’t be overlooked. With the amount of time your baby will be n the cot it needs to be comfortable. This will also help you as it will stop the baby waking as often.
- Can it convert? Many sleigh cot beds can save you money by being easily converted into a toddler bed when needed. Considering the cost that is associated with having a child this can be important.
- Safety features. How high is the rail? Assuming it is going to be used for more than the first couple of months you need railings that a child can’t climb over. Also consider getting a cot with teething rails – a plastic coating that stops the cot from splintering when a teething child inevitably starts chewing at it.
- Strength. Obviously you need a sleigh cot bed to be strong – you don’t want to risk using material or workmanship that looks good but may not be up to the job.
- Drop Rail? For many parents once the baby starts putting on weight it can be hard to lift them in and out of the cot. A drop rail that is fitted to a sleigh cot bed allows the process ot be much easier.
